Zen Calligraphy – Bokuseki

During the writing, body and mind leave their traces on the paper. An ink trace or Zen calligraphy is created in a single moment, in one breath.

Ink traces not only show the form of the kanji and express the meaning of it. They are also a living document of an intensively experienced moment. The more this intensity of the moment is experienced, the more the calligraphy will appeal to the viewer.
